Chris Hollingworth...
Im sure a name that many people dont know, (Holly Performance, etc.) Has also had a few big HP cars...
Well I brought the latest issue of Aussie Brutes, and was flicking thru and seen his new toy... WB Ute pushing 590HP.
Interesting read as he says he built in budget style and for a Grunt Files TV Special.
Runs a 6L Turbocharged LS2 Engine running 12psi!
Turbo is not in the engine bay though as it has been mounted at the rear section of the exhaust with a dump pipe running out the rear of the turbo.
Lag is apparently almost minimal and does not need to run an intercooler as the charged air is cooling as it travels towards the front of the car.
Garrett warrant that their turbos are built to withstand the harsh conditions underneath a car and say that this is the way their turbos should be used...
Now I have heard of this set-up before this, but this is a perfect example of how you can have a turbo sleeper.
Quoted from the mag.
When asked how much lag they actually have, Chris says, "Driving along at 60km/h, if i kick it back a gear before the auto can even engage the gear, the boost guage is sitting on 10psi"
I think this is a very unique set up. I wouldn't mind building one.
If you get a chance go and have a look. I will try and scan in some pics later on.

Pics now!
the only thing i think about is the whole air shrinks as it cools so wouldnt the air at the back of the car be less than the air coming out of the motor therefore giving less pressure at the turbo than at the exhaust ports?

I'm just crazy enough to make my first turbo car rear mounted... And I've been looking into it a bit more, fuck me. Making decent power with minimal lag. Full boost before 3k rpm on some cars.

Errol is a prick. He also likes brushetti and flame-throwers.

i looked into it. the yanks have been doing this for quite some time. how ever they have developed a specialised turbo for this that works real well. the downside is the cost. but you can use normal turbos, but not as efficient or cost effective. other wise i would be doin it to the ute.
