OK so called Elite Motorsports today to ask them a few questions about the car...

They couldnt give me a straight answer (as in "it could be anything")
and are booked out for 2 weeks so i thought i would throw the question out to you the members...

Problem is that I will be driving along, then the car feels like it drops an injector.
Air/Fuel Ratio reads nothing, so I get home, clean the battery thinking that it may be the connections as they were all dirty.

Seems to be all good for 2-3 weeks, then tonight on my way home it started doing it again...
This time I'm thinking its the o2 sensor as it may be dirty or screwed...

Vehicle is an 04 BA XR6 Turbo Ute.

Any Advice to cleaning the o2 sensor would be good.
And if anyone has a car jack/stand/ramps I could borrow, that would be awesome

Im thinking about taking down to Goodyear or somewhere and asking if they can clean it, but if I can do it easy enough at home I will do it this weekend..

Cheers,
Brad

It's not just a bad injector?

well have run injector cleaner and it was serviced not the long ago, so you would think if it was a bad injector they would have noticed...

and bad injector should be playing up all the time... this is only every now and again.

You would think so, but the injector might just be kinda rooted but somehow work intermittently... like maybe it's getting jammed and then releasing for a while and then jamming again, or whatever. Stranger things have happened!

Also since when did taking a car to a service detect and/or fix any faults whatsoever? This is why I prefer doing my own work... I know whether or not I checked the injectors Tongue lol.

The ford straight 6 cyl motors also have the ability to cut out cylinders if the ecu sences the engine overheating. This lowers the risk of it blowing a head gasket. Could possibly the signal getting to the ecu incorrectly.

Also, when was the last time u serviced car?
and, does it create a tick sound or just lack preformance?

Other possibilities

1. O2 sensor (get a new one, dont clean it, they cost like $50)
2. Check all intake pipes for leaks, (leak can cause map sensor to give incorrect reading to ecu)
3. Spark plug, (usually not an intermittent fault however.)
4. Check the coil pack connections, (if one comes loose then it can cut out cylinder, my 1j did this occasionally).
5. Last possible thing would be an injector, ur car is too new for one to fk out.

ok i spoke to my dad he said to clean the o2 sensor just take it out and put it on some lemon jiuce for 10-15 mins but he doesnt believe that is the problem he just listed a whole fuck ton of possible causes and i cant be fucked writing them all down but he basically narrowed it down to the injector being faulty/dirty/blocked. he recoomends taking it to any ford dealership and they can do a quick scan for you wont cost a cent and they will do it with out any booking

car was serviced less than 4000km ago and had a major service done on it.

i will clean the o2 sensor on the weekend if it looks really bad i will just replace it.
Will check intake pipes etc.

thanks for all your help... if it still plays up i will take it to ford and get it looked at.
